Composted horse manure and bedding:
Finding the balance of quality and affordability has been a difficult task for us, but I think we've found it, at least in the Gainesville area. This compost is used as an immediate soil builder and should be added to your existing soil. This is not a potting mix and should be mixed with other ingredients, if that's your intent. Also, if your looking for more than 10 yards, email us and we can probably direct you to a larger dealer @ a cheaper price.
Bucket-o-clay:
Unless you're lucky and got a good spot in the west side of Gainesville, your soil is screaming CLAY! Though it does depend on what you're growing, a good rule of thumb is to get as close to 20% clay in your soil mix as possible. But don't forget a little clay helps more than no clay.
Pelletized chicken manure:
Perdue AgriRecycle's microSTART60 line of organic fertilizers combines the benefits of organic products with ease-of-use and a consistent analysis.
Listed by the Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI), microSTART60 (4-2-3) deliver nutrients to crops and fields in slow-release formulations that improve soil aeration and water filtration and prevent leaching, run-off and soil erosion.
Poultry litter has long been recognized as a rich, natural source of nutrients and organic matter. Our proprietary process dries and pasteurizes poultry litter to create both pellets that can be used as a stand-alone organic fertilizer or to complement other products.
Jersey Greensand:
Greensand is a naturally occurring mineral that is mined from ancient sea floor deposits that has been used as a fertilizer since the 1700s. Greensand will loosen up clay soils and bind sandy soils. It also retains water and will increase the soil's ability to hold moisture. It has an N-P-K rating of only 0-0-0.1 to 0-0-3 which means it contains no nitrogen or phosphorus and only a slight amount of potassium. But it is the trace minerals in greensand that make it so valuable to your plants. Greensand provides calcium, manganese, and over thirty more trace elements for your plants.
Worm Castings:
Worm Castings can be mixed directly into the soil, a thin layer left on the surface of the soil and leached in water to make a tea. Worm castings greatly increase beneficial microbial activity, helping plants and soils overall health. Our castings come from vermi-technologies, are clean, dry, have very little smell. Worm castings are great for fertilizing, but are even better for preventing and controlling disease.
Beat it:
There's one thing we can't do without as Florida Gardeners, mosquito repellant. Thankfully we've got an alternative to deet products. This repellant is made of all natural essential oils and has been tested by University of Florida to be more effective than most deet products. It does not contain harmful chemicals and is not produced with harmful chemicals. Tell the mosquito's to Beat It!!!
